Materials
A variety of materials are used to make the interior components of a car attractive and comfortable. Some materials hold up better than others, and knowing what to look for is an advantage that will help you make better choices that will save you time and money.
Supplies
Restoring the seats in your car is a lot easier today with the large selection of premade seat covers. There are a lot of companies that make original and custom seat covers for many of the popular car models. Not all models and styles are available, but several manufacturers are bringing more patterns to market every year.
Seat Covers
Sometimes it helps to remove or alter some hardware on the seat frame to make the installation of the new seat cover easier. This little tab is in the way and needs to be moved to allow better access to the rear anchor points.

Door Panels
Warpage is a tell-tale sign that water has caused this panel to fail. As a result, the metal trim on the panel lifted from the surface, was caught on a pant leg, and sustained significant damage. The addition of electrical tape to repair the damage was not much help.
Headliners
Working overhead with contact cement is sometimes difficult, and the insulation panels may not land perfectly. This is why the insulation is cut a little oversized so that it can be trimmed to make a neater installation. Excess bulk can make the headliner look lumpy.
Carpet
This carpet set was made with the jute padding already attached to the underside of the carpet. To make the installation of the seat belts and seats easier, the padding is marked with a Sharpie pen to indicate where the jute needs to be removed before it is anchored in place.
