This nest of tables is based on a design where they’ll each come together with a lovely sliding fit, so it was certainly the kind of build that benefited from working through a prototype before jumping in.
The series starts out by taking a look at that prototyping process.
When it comes to design it’s a case of finding what works best for your own mind, and creating a method that shows you what you need to see without getting too over the top.
The take away from this should be that although we’ve got some fairly specific details to work out here, the prototype itself doesn’t need to be complicated or even tidy. Really fast and really scruffy can still do the job!
And despite the rushed look, the prototype is offering a great deal of answers and guidance for the build.
The quick video above offers a summary of what we’re covering in ‘Chapter One’, which is now live!
Along with the overall design we go through considerations for the joinery and the approach to the build.
The full chapter is almost 43mins.
(The full series is 11 chapters in total, so there’s a lot of video included with this build!)
